CSA has developed Canada’s first consensus-based standard on “Occupational Health and Safety Management” – CSA Z1000-2006.
The Z1000 standard provides a model for developing and implementing an Occupational Health and Safety Management System with the intent that such a system would encourage a more systematic approach to meeting defined occupational health and safety objectives, and increases awareness of health and safety in the workplace.
The Z1000 standard can act as a road map to compliance with your legal obligations. Developed with the participation of organized labour, the standard encourages a more systematic approach to meeting defined occupational health and safety objectives and increasing awareness of health and safety in the workplace.
Proactive safety management, through a managed systems approach to occupational health and safety, is key to reducing safety risks and injuries. If you have not implemented a health & safety management system, now is the time to take that step. If you do have a management system, you need to ensure that it has been properly developed, receives employee and management buy-in and facilitates workplace health and safety improvements.
