Public & Community Safety
In life, one size does not fit all. Whether the issue is head protection on the hockey rink, child safety in the playground, or the needs of older persons or people with disabilities, Canadian Standards Associations (CSA) public and community safety standards help to ensure that products, services and processes are designed to fit the people they're intended to protect or serve.
CSA's innovative solutions for Public and Community safety include:
- Emergency Management - Successful emergency management means more than fast response to unplanned incidents. It requires effective plans for prevention, mitigation, preparedness, and for business continuity and recovery.
- Accessibility standards for older persons or people with disabilities, including ground-breaking requirements for barrier-free design, customer service, and accessible transit buses
- Child safety standards and resources related to playspaces and corded window coverings
- Sports and recreation equipment standards, including helmets for cycling and ice hockey, face protectors and visors for ice hockey players, face protectors for ringette players, and ice hockey pucks
- Headforms for the design and testing of headgear, available in child, juvenile and adult models with full facial features; and detailed headform specifications
