Business & Quality Management

The name ISO 9000 is synonymous with Business and Quality Management and market-readiness. It refers to the influential series of standards that has helped organizations worldwide to conduct business in the global marketplace. But did you know that a Canadian Standards Associations (CSA) standard-the Z299 series developed in the 1970s-was one of the sparks that started it all? That's right. When the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) first launched its technical committee on Business and Quality Management and Quality Assurance (ISO/TC 176), it turned to CSA's Z299 series for inspiration.

Over the years, CSA has been a leading supporter of the ISO 9000 series. Today we hold the secretariat for ISO/TC 176, on behalf of the Standards Council of Canada. ISO/TC 176 is the international committee responsible for maintaining the ISO 9000 series. And, due to popular demand, we still publish the Z299 series.

Drawing on more than a quarter-century of Business and Quality Management experience, CSA publishes a wide range of related documents and tools, including checklists, searchable CD-ROM collections, and guides such as the ISO 9000 Essentials, to help organizations in their quest for ISO 9000 compliance. And through the CSA’s Education & Training we offer targeted training for organizations seeking to implement a quality or environmental management system.

CSA's Business & Quality Management program also includes standards for risk management and reliability, and basic engineering activities such as drafting and measurement.
