With this first update since 2000, the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code is the 10th. edition of CSA Standard CAN/CSA-S6 and the second edition under the title Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code. Used in all provincial and territorial jurisdictions, the new revisions and updates make this Code the global standard.
The most significant changes occur in Section 16, Fibre Reinforced Structures. Other notable changes include:
- the elimination of span lengths for the application of truck and lane loads in Section 3, Loads;
- more specific treatment of both the importance factor and the response modification factor in Section 4, Seismic Design;
- coverage of cable use, a clause on arches and more focus on durability in Section 10, Steel Structures, and
- enhancements to Section 14, Evaluation.
2006 Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code
